Literary Quotations

One of the things I like to do with my writing is to maintain a journal where I capture quotes from books, bumper stickers, or anything else I may encounter, which I find to my liking. These quotes are from my journal:

"I had nothing to offer anybody except my own confusion."

Jack Kerouac

"That immaculate manliness we feel within ourselves, so far within us, that it remains intact though all the outer character seem gone; bleeds with keenest anguish at the undraped spectacle of a valor-ruined man."

Herman Melville

"People need good lies. There are too many bad ones."

Kurt Vonnegut

"A foolish faith in authority is the worse enemy of truth."

Albert Einstein

"Good-bye Lois, and I forgive you for everything I did to you."

The Mad-Hatter speaking about his mind to Alice:

"I don't like it in here. Have I gone completely mad?"

Alice responds:

"I'm afraid so, Hatter."

"I am in trouble at work. I have always been told 'Dress for the job you want, not for the job you have.' Well, apparently that does not work if your ambition is to be a rodeo clown."
